Mario will grab the County’s challenges by the horns
Some said that Fayetteville could never have an Office of Community of Safety (OCS). Some said that OCS would take more than 4 years to implement. Some said OCS would be too expensive. But Mario Benavente? As a Golden Bull E.E. Smith alum, Mario grabbed the OCS challenge by the horns. 3 years later, Mario’s determination and collaboration with fellow council members led to the creation of OCS in Fayetteville. City residents will now benefit from OCS’ mission to bring a compassionate and comprehensive approach to public safety.
As Teddy Roosevelt said in a 1910 speech, "credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; [...] who spends himself in a worthy cause; [...] and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly."
As our County strives to make progress toward a stronger education system and greater public safety, Mario Benavente will be in the arena for us, just as he has been in both the council chambers and on the streets.
